On the obvious level it is the story of a pastry competition but it's about so much more: total dedication, mastery of your craft, ambition, complete love and pursuit of your calling. Watching these chefs you really get the idea of what it means to be so absolutely focused, to give yourself completely and utterly over to something.

It helps that if you are a lover of pastries. Those beautiful little jewels that smile, lure, tempt us from behind their vitrines with the promise of pleasure and then the immediate abject guilt for having indulged to wantonly.

I only wish that the execution of the documentary had more finesse. The filmmakers must have had zero budget because the film looks cheap. They would have benefitted from a better DP to really delight our senses. After all, don't we first feast with our eyes? Didn't love the music either. What does hot house jazz have to do with French pastries?

Overall, I did enjoy the sneak peak into am unknown world.
