Review of Kingdom of Heaven (2005) by Wes S — 21 Mar 2012
Some say that religion is just a crutch, maybe so, but after Orlando Bloom's character Balian loses his family and kills another man maybe a crutch is exactly what he needs.
This was a good action film with good acting and character development, and some epic battle scenes that really draw you into the story. And I like that the crusades is told through the eyes of a man who has flaws and doubts, and not through the zealous point of view of a crusader. Orlando Bloom was great as the despondent blacksmith and son of the Baron from Jerusalem, leaving his grief and taking his estranged father's position (played by Liam Neeson), he goes to Jerusalem. Great story that shows the many different sides of the crusades. Definitely worth checking out.
