Review of King Rat (1965) by James J — 02 Apr 2010
Well, if it weren't for Modest Mouse's excellent song with the same title, I would never have watched this unique and gripping film. It's a gem of a film that I think has been overlooked through most of its existence.
It's beautifully shot, emotionally powerful, and masterfully told through great performances. What the film really nails, though, is the atmosphere, which cries of claustrophobic, desperate isolation.
