Great performances, nicely balanced between seriously nasty gangsters and too decrepit to do this anymore. If the story lacks fizz, that's because the reality did, they were just stupid. But Caine, Winston, Broadbent et al more than carry it.
The humour comes from the facts of the story and personally I thinks it's a fascinating one.
