I feel this film would have been more enjoyable if it played more on the comedy aspects of the film. Indeed, the most enjoyable scenes featured Jeff, who, despite being a very stereotypical black character, was funny and very likable. Another notable performance comes from Henry Victor who, while not as creepy as Lugosi, Karloff, still pulls off the evil doctor working for (though they weren't allowed to say it at the time) the Nazis.

It is not a particularly scary film, but there is still some creepiness to be found, especially from the score, which I discovered was actually nominated for an Oscar.

A funny note about this movie is how a character is supposed to be from Ireland, but we only know this from an observation another character made and his occasional references to shamrocks. He even comments that "anybody can tell that I am", when asked if he was Irish...no we can't.
