Review of King of New York (1990) by Matt B — 11 Jul 2007
Frank White (Christopher Walken) is released from prison and immediately gets back to his life of crime. For a drug and crime lord White has an odd will to do some good for his community. However, killing all the major criminal elements in gangland New York gets you enemies in every camp, even if you believe you are doing good while you do it.
King of New York is an interesting story about a ganster with a sense of justice and with no problem with enforcing that justice.
The cast is wonderful. Not much needs to be said about the as always great Christopher Walken, but it was pleasent to see that David Caruso actually can act - the horrible CSI: Miami series did anything but show that.
But I can't say I was exactly wowed by anything in this movie. It was good, but not great.
Also, Steve Buscemi was completely wasted on his minute role.
