Review of King of New York (1990) by John A — 31 Oct 2007
With Abel Ferrera it's usually hit or miss. This, for me, is his biggest hit. Unpretentous and straight-up tale of a just released from prison king-pin picking up the pieces of his former criminal syndicate.
A smorgasboard of actors-best performances bring the air-tight script to life. It manages to create and maintain a pace and momentum that makes you feel like you just started watching the film, even an hour into it.
David Caruso shines here, reminding us of just how cool he is capable of being.
