Review of King of New York (1990) by Ross M — 21 Jan 2008

I can't believe the ratings this has been getting on here. It is a modern classic Gangster film, but it was unfortunate to be released in the same year as Goodfellas.

I was excited throughout this whole film. There are plenty of gun battles, but it is not without a great plot too.

The acting is up to an amazing standered. Walken is captivating as always and I really liked David Caruso as the corrupt cop.

Some nice emotional scenes are thrown into the mix in between loads of frantic car chases and gun fights aswell making it more than just an empty thriller.

There is both style and substance in this film and comes with a fantastic ending.
