Review of King of California (2007) by William Lewis M — 15 May 2011
To put it simply, this is the first film I have seen in a while that has made me feel good on the inside in the rare way films do. Michael Douglas plays a lovable, eccentric father and the relationship between him and his daughter, Evan Rachel Wood, feels genuine.
The film is based around looking for buried treasure (which is always fun) and is easy to follow but at the same time has good depth to it. Yes, it's a bit rough round the edges sometimes but Mike Cahill's debut film is a real gem worth searching for.
