Review of King Kong (1933) by Tom R — 13 Aug 2010
The iconic King Kong is a labor of love. So much hard work and imagination was put into the making of the film and it's still unforgettable even decades after its release. It's unequivocally the greatest film of its time.
Fay Wray is a classic likable leading lady and boy, could she scream. You can say the special effects are aged and look fake (and to that I say, get off your high horse; this is a movie from the 30's) but that's what I like so much about it.
To me, King Kong is a great MOVIE and with every time I see that stop-motion, I feel like it's movie magic that makes me believe that a real giant gorilla is attacking New York City. King Kong is essential viewing and one of the greats.
