Review of King Kong (1933) by Corey H — 23 Aug 2010
This is, without a doubt, one of the most classic movies ever made. The idea for this movie was really good, and it was fun to watch. Compared to today. though, some parts seem sort of goofy, but they don't make the movie any less classic.
The stop-motion used looked just as cool as it always has. They did a great job of making the creatures in the movie actually look big compared to the humans and surroundings. I've always wondered what the "lost spider pit sequence" would have looked like, though.
It has been called the "holy grail" of movies. To this day, many, MANY people wish they could have seen that part of the movie, and I'm one of them. The close-ups of Kong using that puppet were the goofiest parts of the movie.
He just looked SO ridiculous in those scenes, and it's hard not to laugh at. Although, back when this movie came out, the puppets and stop-motion effects used were as good as they could get, and the people who watched them were amazed by them.
And still, to this day, stop-motion animation amazes people; like me. I think almost everyone can agree that the part where King Kong died was really sad, and I'm sure a lot of people cried during that scene.
It was a very emotional way to end the most classic monster movie ever made.
