Review of King Kong (1933) by Baurushan J — 03 Feb 2012
This is another one of those great black and white films I like to watch pretty much for those same reasons for the same reasons as the other black and white films like all those black and white horror films I like to watch because it explores the art and classic history of these mythological elements even if it's not science-fiction, horror or fantasy, they use those historical real-life elements and transfer them onto the big screen.
The story is kinda simple, a group go off to an unknown island, they meet King Kong and some dinosaurs, the girl gets left behind and kidnapped by Kong, the girl tries to play with Kong and this makes him like her but the men find her and take her away from Kong but he goes after her and the men into New York City which gets into a big battle but they capture him and call him King Kong but King Kong escapes with the girl onto the Empire State Building and unable to stand many wounds falls off the top.
I still remember the line from this film that when some police says "The airplanes done it!" and Carl says "No! It wasn't the airplanes. It was the Beauty that killed the Beast." This exact line for the climax was transferred onto the ending of the 2005 remake and it was a real treat.
While the remake may not be good as the original, it still was decent as it stays very close to the original. So far, this film was amazing and the use of special effect was also amazing too. It may not be motion capture territory but made an amazing blast off to the present future.
King Kong (1933) gets a pure 10/10.
