Review of King Kong (1933) by Mark M — 29 Nov 2012
One of the greatest classic monster movies of all-time!
And the granddaddy of all giant monster movies that unleashed one of the greatest monster movie icons of all-time on movie goers. Inspiring everyone from Peter Jackson (obviously) to Toho Studios who created Godzilla.
Great directing, a thrilling story and revolutionary effects work from stop-motion pioneer, Willis H. O'Brien make this truly one of the best monster movies ever made. The scenes on Skull Island are atmospheric and fun to watch as Kong battles the prehistoric beasts to protect his beauty, Ann.
To this day Kong battling bi-planes atop the Empire State Building is one of the most thrilling climaxes in film history. This is one of the most influential effects films ever made.
