Review of King Kong (1933) by Guido S — 08 Feb 2014
One of the all-time classics. A film crew goes to a remote island to capture an unseen creature on film and profit from it. The plan does not go according to plan when Fay Wray gets captured by the native and is being sacrificed to Kong.
The crew go to rescue her but find dinosaurs in addition to Kong. Eventually the rescue her and Kong chases and gets knocked out by gas so they can take him back to New York. At the debut, he ends up escaping and taking her captive again before being attacked on the Empire State building.
A lot of classic scenes in this one and spawned off two remakes which expand on what was already here. Even though the effects are largely dated by today's standard, it mostly works. Still as good as it was back then.
