Review of King Kong (1933) by David H — 30 Mar 2014
A masterpiece that has transcended the ages. One terrific monster-adventure that grips you and doesn't let go until the legendary climax. King Kong is one of the first films that broke extreme ground in the special effects department. In all fairness this film should have won an Oscar for it's terrific use in special effects. But before I get to the special effects, I want to talk about the rest.
The acting is pretty average. It's not the best acting but not the worst, it's in the middle. It's got that 30's noir-style acting with actors talking pretty fast and stuff.
But aside from the acting that will probably make you think the movie is cheesy, wait till you get to Kong and the dinosaurs. The special effects are very amazing to watch and inspirational. King Kong is a film that can influence millions of filmmakers. But one last thing I have to add is that this version is better than Peter Jackson's.
