Review of King Creole (1958) by Bevan S — 01 Mar 2009
Probably the best Elvis movie - neat little New Orleans crime drama with great music - Elvis doesn't break into song like a musical except for the opening number and even then, it's just a lovely scene of him singing along with the street rhythms.
Elvis isn't necessarily a good actor, but he does what he needs to do and does it just fine - Caroline Jones and Walter Matthau prop him up well. Beautifully shot and amazing well directed by Casablanca director Curtiz.
Well worth seeing.
