Review of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017) by Chris F — 29 May 2017
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is a mostly enjoyable film from director Guy Ritchie. Charlie Hunnam is really good in the lead role. He shines in the action scenes in particular. Jude Law really hams it up as the villain.
His performance is so over the top but is so entertaining to watch. The action is very entertaining. Guy Ritchie directs the action with his usual flair, and it works. The movie is so ridiculously bonkers that it is hard not to enjoy and have fun with.
The film does have some problems though. The film feels rushed. There are certain scenes that are just montaged through. I wish they were given more time to be fleshed out. Also, while the film is bonkers, a lot of it makes any sense.
The film can get incoherent at times. Still, there is fun to be had. Overall, I am interested to see what they will do with this universe. This movie made me intrigued for the next one, if they ever make it.
