Review of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017) by Amber G — 12 May 2017
Originally I was looking forward to seeing this movie, but after hearing the bad reviews I wasn't in a big hurry. I ended up seeing it tonight because I had a movie night planned and it was playing at a time that worked out for me.
I was so pleasantly surprised. I thought it was very fun, well paced, interesting, visually attractive, with good effects, style and tone. I heard complaints about Charlie's accent, which I have agreed with in the past.
I don't know if it's because I was so engrossed in the movie or not, but I didn't personally catch any slips with this accent. I think the bad publicity over the David Beckham scene was overblown, I had no problem with it.
I thought it worked well in the movie, he was physically changed enough where it wasn't distracting. I felt like Jude Law did an excellent job. I would have enjoyed a bit more romance, but that might have distracted from the plot.
All in all I think it's a fun movie, and I think it's worth seeing for a night out!
