Review of King Arthur (2004) by Andrew B — 19 Jun 2011
Great & dramatic action film that takes bits and pieces of rumors, history, and legends about King Arthur and weaves it into a great battle film set in Brittan during the Roman occupation. Arthur and his knights (who were born into military servitude as part of a truce created years before during a war against the Romans) are charged with one last mission before their freedom can be granted.
After escorting the Bishop from Rome across Brittan, the soldiers find out that their celebration of freedom is short lived when the Bishop reneges on his promise and give them a mission to rescue a Roman family trapped behind enemy lines.
Having to cross behind enemy lines, and finding out that the Saxon army has landed, the soldiers are up against impossible odds. Great war film comparable to Gladiator and Braveheart.
