Review of King Arthur (2004) by Lauren H — 22 Mar 2014
There were parts of the movie that I didn't think played out as well as they could have, but overall, I loved it.
I must confess though that the break-outs for me in this movie were not Clive Owen (Arthur) or Ioan Gruffudd (Lancelot) or even Keira Knightley (Guinevere). Instead, I feel like it was stolen more by Arthur's Sarmatian knights, who showed a great deal of depth even for the small amount of screen time they had.
Particularly noteworthy are the performances from Mads Mikkelsen (Tristan, AKA the knight with the hawk) and Ray Stevenson (Dagonet, AKA the 6'4" knight). Out of most of the people I talk to about this movie, these are the two that seem to stand out from the others.
While I do recommend the movie overall, I especially recommend it because of Mikkelsen and Stevenson.
