Review of Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949) by Catherine R — 15 Nov 2007
A timeless classic from 1949. Definitely in my all-time top five - I never get tired of this film. One of the cleverest scripts ever written, Dennis Price's performance is delicious, Joan Greenwood is an excellent smouldering schemer, Valerie Hobson is achingly beautiful and gracious, Alec Guinness carries off all his 8 roles superbly, and Robert Hamer's direction knits them all together into a masterpiece.
The jewel in the crown of Ealing comedies.
