Leaving aside Alec Guiness's marvelously chameleonic roles and Dennis Price's acerbic but very English murderer, who can resist Joan Greenwood's sibilant and slinky Sibella? Bautifully committed to its own utter heartlessness, this is an exacting comedy of class ambition.
