Review of Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949) by Sudeep C — 31 Dec 2007
A dark comedy, typical Brit style, about a charming, devious young man who sets about murdering the relatives ahead of him in the line for the Dukedom of Chalfont. Must be watched keeping in mind the period this was made in - the late forties. Alec Guiness is masterful, playing an incredible eight different roles!
PS: I've got to admit it, it was the strange title that made me wanna watch this and if you're wondering the context, its borrowed from Tennyson's lines : "Kind hearts are more than coronets, And simple faith than Norman blood.".
