Review of Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949) by Elijah B — 06 Jul 2008
Much better than The Ladykillers, just because Alec Guinness rubs his talent in our faces playing eight roles throughout the film. The film has a quicker pace, if that's what you want. This casting is excellent with appearances by Valerie Hobson (who played Elizabeth in James Whale's 1935 version of Bride of Frankenstein) and Hugh Griffith (who went on to get cameo roles in The Abominable Dr.
Phibes and its sequel, Dr. Phibes Rises Again). This should not be overlooked.
