Review of Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949) by Randy T — 03 May 2009
My favorite comedy of all time: dark, sarcastic, bitting, elegant, and utterly enjoyable. Marvelous Dennis Price, versatile Alec Guiness in 8 different roles, and Joan Greenwood at her snooty finest make for wonderful byplay.
Well mannered dialog coupled with ludicrous murders in that typically British tradition of macabre humor (cf. Hitch's The Trouble with Harry.) An atypical masterpiece from Ealing Studios.
