Review of Kin (2018) by Joe M — 05 Sep 2018
267. Kin. After seeing this movie, which I enjoyed, I texted a friend: Just watched Kin, cool flick. He replied: A black kid finds a gun, nice message. I thought about it, and yea, broken down it is this: A black teen finds a gun, goes on cross country crime spree with, just released from prison, brother, and finally, initiated into a gang.
Hmm. Be that way if you will... But there were aliens man!!! So Eli, does indeed find a gun, but along with those guns are alien bodies, well, they're wearing biker outfits and helmets, but the gun sure as sh*t looks alien!! So he does what any teen would do, take that thing home and play with it!! So yup, at the same time his brother Jimmy just got out of the joint, and yes he is still a douche bag, but a douche bag with a heart of gold, that you know, tries to get him hooked up with strippers, robbing gangsters, what big brother wouldn't do these things?? Side note: Its my brother Bill's birthday today, he's old.
So Happy Birthday Bro!! But anyways... it does turn out in fact that those bodies with the gun were aliens and the owners of those guns are now hunting the weapon down, as are the gangsters that Jimmy owes money too, led by James Franco, wha?? I thought it was a pretty cool sci fi flick meshed with a crime drama backstory, and also gives promise to a bigger world.
I hope we get to see it :) Filmbufftim on FB.
