Review of Killshot (2008) by Monk M — 05 Apr 2009
A pretty standard thriller from John Madden, director of "Shakespeare In Love," based on a novel by Elmore Leonard. Very tightly wound and moving to a crisp pace, this makes for satisfying viewing, but doesn't do anything out of the ordinary.
There is no real edge, either in structure, visual composition, storyline or treatment. It is a very well done thriller and works mainly because of some superb performances from its talented cast. Mickey Rourke oozes screen presence as the baddie, Tom Jane and Diane Lane play the victims with great conviction and Joseph Gordon Levitt completely steals the show with a truly stunning turn as a brash, loquatious, irritating, cold, bloodthirsty criminal.
