Review of Killshot (2008) by Stephen M — 12 Jun 2009
Another Weinstein movie that was delayed to no end and was finally released in overwhelming five theaters. What is wrong with these people? Don't they at least read marketing 101 before deciding to go into the movie business?
Well, the movie itself is pretty basic, but the cast is surprisingly strong. How about Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rosario Dawson, Thomas Jane, Diane Lane and Mickey fucking Rourke for starters. There was supposed to be a Johnny Knoxville in there as well, but I didn't recognize him if he was. The point is, when there is a movie with such thespians, you fuckin' watch it.
Lane and Gordon-Levitt stand out in the film, but I felt Rourke and Jane (who I love) breezed through it, not really even trying. Mickey especially is pretty one dimensional, because I saw what he can do in 'The Wrestler'. Well, I guess everyone is entitled to a paycheck movie once in a while, and this certainly feels like one for everyone involved.
A bearable piece of cinema with a stellar cast, but with such talent the result should always be a helluva lot better. Cha-ching! Next movie.
