Review of Killshot (2008) by Michael Y — 28 Aug 2010
On one side, Killshot was pretty good, but on the otherside, it's just average.
With a great cast, Killshot is about a divorcing couple who are trying to run away from 2 killers. The interesting thing about this movie is that it focuses more on the killer's lives than the victums. And it's that part of the story that's the only interesting part. Mickey Rourke plays a calm, dark, and secretive assassin, while Joseph Gordon-Levitt goes all out as an eccentric criminal. It's when the movie focuses on their characters, the movie is interestingly personal and thrilling, but the story goes to mediocre when it focuses of Diane Lane and Thomas Jane.
This movie was pretty stylistic. The winter scenery gave the movie a nice cold and bleak feeling. When the action begins and the people drop to the ground, this mood becomes quite thrilling and cool. And since most of the movie takes place in a small town, the feeling of "nowhere to run" shows off.
This movie was done pretty well, and the cast do a great job too (especially JGL) but I don't think that there where enough thrills throughout too boost the movie, and the story wasn't that creative. But using what was given, Killshot isn't bad and is actually worth checking out.
