Review of Killshot (2008) by Miss A — 09 Sep 2010
I had big issues with this film, the biggest being Rourke's hitman character. Personally, I don't believe assassin's should be waxing poetic about anything let alone how to do their job. The pairing of Rourke and Joseph Gordon Levitt's nutjob character was incredibly odd.
The two seem awkward together in just about every scene. I've always likened Gordon Levitt to a poor-man's Heath Ledger and now he's trying to channel Ledger's Joker in this film. He falls so flat you can hear the thud on the pavement.
Diane Lane is the only true acting talent in this film who doesn't annoy the viewer as her inner strength and will to survive the ordeal are worth a viewing. Thomas Jane is just an empty suit and director John Madden (not to be confused with the football coach) has very little talent.
This film is vanilla enough to make you want to turn it off. There is a reason this went to DVD so quickly. It did lousy at the box office.
