An actor's gotta hate it when he gives an acclaimed, award-winning performance that's considered the best of his career - and then a mediocre film he made long before said performance comes out right after it.

Such is the case with "Killshot", which had been sitting on the shelf for awhile and only got a very limited theatrical release to capitalize on Mickey Rourke's success with "The Wrestler".

Rourke is fun to watch here, even though his accent disappears and reappears at will and it's hard to determine just WHAT the accent is supposed to be (French Canadian?)! Despite the presence of a good cast, Oscar-nominated director and source material from Elmore Leonard, the troubled production history seems to have turned the final cut into a sloppy edited mess, and the overall storyline and motivations of the characters are pretty pointless.

Still, I do give it points for its Ontario settings and for being the only film I've seen to feature the "Toronto mafia"!
