Review of Killing Them Softly (2012) by Tatsuhito K — 26 Jul 2015
A stylish and electrifying neo-noir thriller that also works as a cautionary tale on capitalism. I can see a lot of people not finding this film particularly mesmerizing or good. Some may find its dark humor funny, others may be disgusted by it.
The execution sequences are quite violent and brutal, and a lot of people will find it unpleasant. I found the film brilliant and mesmerizing, and although I felt nauseous at times, Brad Pitt's strong performance and director Andrew Dominik's stylish direction helped me go through this journey.
Killing Them Softly will provoke your senses and challenge your boundaries. It's one nasty and brilliant piece of work.
