Review of Killing Season (2013) by Roxanne R — 28 Sep 2013
This film has enough tension and chasing to keep you engaged until its shocking conclusion. I did not see that coming! Against the beautiful backdrop of the Appalachian Mountains, COL Ford (Robert De Niro) lives a solitary life until a helpful stranger named Emil Kovac (John Travolta) comes along.
Problem is that Emil has ulterior motives for casually bumping into COL Ford and once the men meet, old wounds will resurface, followed by an intense, chilling battle across the mountains. Hunters not chasing wild animals but each other.
..Who will survive and who will die? Oh you have to watch the film which is full of suspense. Great acting by both men and rated R for its brutal war scenes between Bosnians and Serbians. I disagree with all the critics on this one but many viewers considered it a "guy's flick" maybe due to the film's topic but as a woman I did enjoy it.
As a matter of fact it made me wonder about how two female war veterans would react under similar circumstances...Perhaps different dynamics between males and females but rest assured, the film delivers.
A story of redemption, forgiveness and an unlikely friendship. Recommended!
