Review of Killing Season (2013) by Sarfaraz A — 12 Jul 2013
Killing Season directed by Mark Steven Johnson (Daredevil) from the screenplay by Even Daugherty. Starring Oscar-nominated John Travolta and and Oscar-winner Robert de Niro (first ever on-screen duo). Killing Season was filmed in Appalachian Mountains.
American military vet and former NATO operative in 'Deliberate Operation' in Bosnia War Col. Benjamin (Robert di Niro) lives in isolated cabin in Appalachian Mountains trying to ward off agony and painful memories of Bosnia Wars. Kovac (John Travolta) is a former Serbian soldier who flocks into Appalachian during 'hunting season' to take revenge from colonel, for wounding and leaving him (Kovac) during Bosnia War. Film follows the chase between two great actors with arrows, bows, and Winchester.
The film was to be called Sharpnel - the story might click same-old below average, however, the notorious environment filled with Serbian accent by Travolta weighs the plot. Film hits on 'personal guilt', opportunity to confess about sins and seek redemption. Watchable!
