Review of Killing Kasztner (2008) by Christopher S — 13 Mar 2013
Excellent documentary that meticulously tells the story of the largely unknown WWII personality Rudolf Kastner. It's shocking to me that with the success of "Scheindler's List" that Kastner's story hasn't received more attention.
In many ways I think the Kastner "drama" is far more interesting and just as significant. What makes this piece so unique is how the director makes extensive use of Kastner's killer. I can't recall another documentary where an assassin (who isn't clinically insane in some way) has "positively" participated in the telling of their crimes.
The scenes of this man meeting his victim's daughter near the end of the film are riveting. Informative, dramatic, and important...you won't be dissatisfied with this outstanding documentary.
