Review of Killing Gunther (2017) by Gábor D — 10 Oct 2018
The whole movie felt like a parody of a documentary. Which is a fresh thing and didn't do the movie any harm. The actors did a painfully average performance, except for Arnold. But it's really sad that they didn't give Arnold enough screen time. And at the end when the did it was just so forced, it felt like they just shoved it in there. The director's style, was pretty good with the shaky cam, which made it more immersive while the action scenes where rolling. But sadly this documentary like- 3rd person shooting shaky cam style is an agglomerated diction these days, so it's nothing out of the ordinary. The script was very basic, very narrow. The movie was entertaining because just not enough. It's wasn't fun to watch to the end, it got very chore like after the first 20 minutes. Fortunately it's pretty short and has no pacing issues. The visual looked awful, so bad that it looked that it was cut out of cardboard.(2/10) The humor was really lacking given the fact that this was supposedly a comedy, it was pretty serious, basically it was forcefully serious. The plot was very simple no twist, just right at the end, which you could have seen it coming from a mile. But a positive thing that saves the whole thing from being even worse of a movie is the fact that it didn't feel repetitive, nor cheesy and it wasn't cliche.
Sadly Arnold couldn't save this film from sinking in it's faults. It has no message whatsoever, it's just a blow up cheap movie. Overall it's a below average movie, which is better if remains unseen. Sorry Arnold.
