Review of Killing Ground (2017) by Timothy A — 26 Aug 2017
There are very few reasons to recommend the Indie horror/thriller Killing Ground. The dual timeline storytelling is functional if not original, plus there is a single very well done tracking shot early on in proceedings.
Unfortunately the characters are poorly drawn, the dialogue is forced, and the suspense dissipates at crucial points throughout. The always watchable Aaron Pederson gets lumped into a thankless role, and is surrounded by actors well below his skill level.
There really didn't seem to be much point to this failed attempt at realistic horror, other than to shock with violence. The ending is particularly unworthy of sticking through the whole film for.
A very disappointing addition to Aussie cinema.
