Review of Killer's Kiss (1955) by Doug C — 06 Dec 2009
A great early B-noir from Stanley Kubrick (his second film, before The Killing). Jamie Smith plays a down-and-out boxer who saves Irene Kane from her sinister nightclub boss, but only after the boss's henchmen kill Smith's manager and kidnap Kane.
Beautiful cinematography shot in NYC, and the axefight in the room full of manikins in the climactic scene is an exceptional scene and quintessential Kubrick. Traces of A Clockwork Orange and The Shining are very noticeable in this film.
