Review of Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) by Ray D — 08 Mar 2009
Whoever thought that a film about Alien Clowns that kill people and transform them into, err, cotton candy, would be so, err, well done? The special effects are just ridiculous enough to work here, and the clowns, after years of folks like Tim Burton and Rob Zombie playing around with carnival imagery, look right at home, despite their not-very-malleable features. They're large and clearly inhuman, but that somehow adds to the effect. The plot? Oh right, well there are these clowns, you see, and they land in their spaceship that looks like a big glowing circus tent outside this small town, where they're discovered by the teenage hero and his girlfriend, who learn their evil plan, but can't convince the crusty sheriff or his deputies............
.....
Okay, if you're still reading, this is probably a movie that you'd really enjoy. And 'Clownzilla' at the end of the film is a sight to behold. Unless you're really serious about that fear of clowns. In which case you probably SHOULDN'T watch.
