One of the best bad movies you'll see, this is a cult fav. Great example of 80's cheesy; it's not a spoof, but doesn't take itself seriously, very tongue-in-cheek dialogue and, as been pointed out, a huge formulaic nod to the 50's sci-fi movies.
Plot holes you can drive a klown kar through, so don't put too much thought into it, just enjoy!
