An ensemble cast of vile people and it's in your face gore makes this an uncomfortable watch, but it's enjoyable nonetheless. Friedkin' direction is fast paced and he fits a lot into 103 minutes. Women do not fair well. Be warned it does verge on misogyny. Gina Gershon's character does have it coming though!
McConaughey's performance is a career best. What a vile monster he produces in Joe. The bloody finale is gruesome and has an end line worthy of an Eastenders 'duff duff'.
A recommend, but not for the weak of stomach.
