Review of Killer Joe (2012) by Ken C — 09 Jan 2013
As the credits rolled I sat in my seat stunned with my heart pounding and my hands literally shacking in fear.
Mathew McConaughey was born to play this role, and shows that he can do more than just cliched Hollywood rom-roms. He was absolutely amazing as was the rest of the cast which included Thomas Haden-Church, Emile Hirsch, and Juno Temple.
William Friedkin's directing style was superb, and really set the mood for what the rest of the movie had in store. All of the set pieces and locations had a really casual charm to them and really immerse you into the movie's environment.
Even though this movie left me feeling shocked, dirty, and scared for the rest of the world, I still have a great appreciation for it and there's no way that I can disregard a movie that's THIS well made and THIS well acted just because of how sick and twisted it is.
Like I said this movie is intense, but if you think that your heart can take it I recommend that you go see it and experience one of the best acted movies of 2012.
