Love McConaughey so might have watched this anyway. But Time Magazine called his performance the sixth best of 2012. Woah! Gotta watch now! Not a terrible movie, but nothing profound. However, if you can make it to the end, McConaughey indeed shows why Time gave him a mention.
His character is not very cool and not very likable in this, so he gets even more credit for totally owning the role. To top it off, it's an absurd finish so watching a guy that often plays in safe roles do something like this is pretty fun.
