Review of Killer Joe (2012) by Cody O — 16 Jan 2013
This is a movie I have been waiting to see for awhile, since I saw its first trailer. I have to say it did something that not many movies make me do. I actually shouted "what!?" at the end. Now when I did this I think I was feeling a mixture of many feelings including, confused, surprised, and comedy.
Saying that doesn't mean it was an amazing shocking ending, just that it was so sudden. The movie in its entirety is a mash up of dark comedy, odd sexual situations and sudden violence. So far I haven't mentioned anything I really liked about the movie, but one definite positive was Matthew McConaughey who was spot on as Killer Joe.
He has this restrained calm and the outbursts of strangeness, and violence. I left the movie not really sure how I felt about the film, but one thing is for sure there is not much I saw like it from last year.
