It's one of those movies that you can't actually like, not in the conventional sense anyway, but the movie itself doesn't really care. It's pure neo-noir in the seedy south, filled with reprehensible persons and accompanying behaviors.

It's more concerned about the dark side of humanity than much of anything else, and it has the courtesy to be gripping and startling about it.
