Review of Killer Joe (2012) by Adriano B — 01 Jun 2013
In a weekend of black comedies I found this much more enjoyable. Much funnier and much darker. This is incredibly violent stuff, and in a film that still feels theatrical (which is one of it's drawbacks).
There are hints of John Sayles films, and Tennessee Williams' plays. McConaughey is in a rich vein of form and dominates this, and Temple finally gets the decent role that she deserves. Maybe Friedkin isn't repeating his 70s glories, but this is enjoyable stuff.
And 50% of the audience will never go to a KFC again, and 50% will be off for a bargain bucket!
