I have yet to figure out if I want to "label" William Friedkin's film as "dark satire" or "sardonic horror." Maybe, this little independent movie is not really a work than can be easily categorized. It is most certainly a grim comedy. And, it is most certainly a cynical critique of the morals and ethics within society. It is also quite repulsive and cruel. And, damn, if it isn't one of the most demented dark comedies I've ever seen. When the film's credits came to a close and the cinema lights came up I was still laughing internally at what I had just seen and had the intense need of a hot shower with a lot of soap.

Much credit to ALL the actors involved. Brilliant performances that are right on key with the twisted tone set by the director and screenwriter. Caleb Deschanel's brilliant cinematography should also be noted.

This movie is not for everyone. This is sort of a Thinking Man's John Waters epic. Let's call it Dark Film Art and leave it at that. I loved it.
