Review of Killer Joe (2012) by Lee H — 18 Sep 2013
"Killer Joe" seeks to be a southern version of "Fargo" where crimes go awry and everything is supposed to be funny. Except in this movie, it is not funny. The script is awful. When the end finally comes, things go so absurd that instead of laughing, one wants to elicit massive eye rolls.
Matthew McConaughey does give a good performance but his sadistic detective who moonlights as a killer is muted by all the other characters in this movie that one absolutely hates. Terrible, horrible stuff.
