Review of Killer Joe (2012) by J. Scott F — 03 Jan 2014
I couldn't make it through this film - had to quit about half-way through. I usually find some redeeming value in dark, twisted films - as a metaphor, or a morality tale using elements of "theatre of cruelty" .
. . however, this didn't seem to include much of anything other than good acting. The acting is great by the way - there is a psychotic subtlety displayed by Matthew McConaughey that is deep and chilling, and every role is well done .
. . but the dialog and subject matter is simply sick, and not particularly comic.
