Review of Killer Joe (2012) by Liam C — 07 May 2014
Matthew McCounaghey plays a great bad guy let me just say that right off the bat, he nails to role of Joe. At first the movie has a simple but intriguing premise that gets you interested just because of how strange it is, it might be simple but it certainly is strange and really grabs your attention but just gets layer after layer of depth to it that by the end of it you are so involved with this story you can't wait to see what happens next.
That's probably due to the amazing performances from a top notch cast and the fact that all the characters get development that really makes the movie feel alive and the tension is just oozing out of every scene.
It's very unconventional and very bloody and it leaves things for the audience to work out too, leaves things open for interpretation and shocks quite often. The violence is going to be something that takes a lot of people by surprise, it's a lot like Drive, you question for long time how the film managed to get such a high age rating but then the violence kicks in and then it all makes sense.
Good movie, highly entertaining for all the wrong reasons.
